In I Timothy 2:1-3 we are instructed to pray for those in authority…
The Tampa Bay Mayors Prayer Breakfast has been faithfully held in Tampa since 1971 during Dick Greco’s first term as mayor. Our purpose is to pray, as a community, for those in authority and to reach out with the Gospel to those who might not hear it in another way. It is really an outreach breakfast seeking to share the message of salvation through Jesus Christ. Hosted by the local chapters of CBMC (Christian Business Men’s Connection), this Co-Ed event has blessed the lives of local leaders and business people for 46 years. In the past, the event has featured many prominent national speakers from the business, political and sports arenas. Chuck Colson, Adolf Coors IV, Truett Cathy, Joe Gibbs, Bobby Bowden and Tony Dungy to name a few.
It is impossible to measure the impact, but we know that thousands of lives have been changed as a result of this breakfast event, including many prominent civic leaders. In addition, we strive to see everyone reached by the message, receive a follow up visit and be invited to a discipleship program or directed to a local church that can meet their needs. Men & Women alike are encouraged to attend.
The Tampa Bay Mayors Prayer Breakfast is not a fundraising event, but rather an unusual opportunity to gain a glimpse into lives that have been touched and changed by the gift of salvation. No matter who the speaker may be, the message is sure to be compelling, convicting and inspiring. You are encouraged to consider bringing those from your sphere of influence who may have never heard the message of salvation through Jesus Christ or who do not live in vibrant relationship with God.
